Effective microorganisms consist of lactic acid bacteria, photosynthesis bacteria and yeasts, which are a natural component of our intestinal flora. At the University of Ryukyu on Okinawa, he conducted intensive research on mandarin cultivation without the harmful use of pesticides and mineral fertilizers. Coincidentally, Prof. Higa observed how rotting watermelon plants began to expel again, which were disposed of as waste. Higa suspected the work of microorganisms behind it and was right. Here, too, Prof. Higa helped with chance. He poured the remains of his used microbes onto a piece of lawn, as they were biologically harmless. After some time, the grass grew particularly dense and green. This led Prof. Higa to believe that it was not individual lactobacteria or bifidobacteria, but only the interaction of the different strains that produced the growth-promoting effect.

Prof. Higa developed a stable mixture of 80 different microorganisms, which he called EM effective microorganisms. Today’s mixture in its original solution contains fewer EM bacteria, but is equally effective. Their production is simpler and the final product more stable. EM effective microorganisms are a mixed culture of toxicologically harmless, genetically unchanged organisms from 10 different genera and 5 families. The 5 families anaerobic (air-closed) and aerobic EM bacteria include:

  1. photosynthesis bacteria
  2. lactic acid bacteria
  3. the yeasts
  4. the Streptomyces microbes, a mixture of bacteria and fungi, and
  5. ferment-active mushrooms.

These lactic acid and photosynthesis bacteria, fungi and yeasts produce a wealth of useful substances such as vitamins, amino acids, mineral compounds and antioxidantsthat are valuable as effective microorganisms for humans and animals. When administered to humans or animals, they detoxify the body, strengthen the acid-base weight and can build up the intestinal flora.

Originally used as a natural fertilizer, EM is now used as a health drink as well as as a skin tonic, as an animal nutrient, in the household, in the environment, in industry and agriculture. The fermentation principle:

The entire cosmic life, including that of our planet, consists of becoming and passing away.
